General Information

Currency of Nepal is called Nepalese Rupee in English or Nepali Rupayiaah in Nepalese language. The Nepalese Rupee has a photo of its Excellency printed on it or minted in case of coins. Guest can find money exchangers in every corner of big cities like Kathmandu and Pokhra. Smaller towns also have government affiliated and private ones. It is better to deal with government operators. The caste system of Nepal is rooted in the Hindu religion. Nepali, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Hindi and English is also used by most. There are a total of 48 Airports and 1 International airport, domestic flights is well developed compared to a country like Nepal. ISD Code is +977 and the local timings of Nepal Standard Time is 5 hours and 45 minutes ahead of G M T. Being Hindu in its outlook hence celebrates most of the Hindu festivals like Durga Puja, Holi, Dipawali, Shivaratri and Vasant Panchmi, etc. Holidays on Unification Day, Martyr's Day, Labor Day and Georgian New Year's Day and Nepalese New Year are also there. Sunday is the weekly off day hence most of the government and private offices are closed on Sunday. International holidays such as are also accredited in Nepal. The Nepali dress for women is a cotton sari / Guniu, a cloth garment worn with a blouse. It is also worn in India. The men of Nepal generally wear Daura Suruwal, Saree and other costume. Younger generations have picked up the international dress code of Jeans and T Shirt.

It borders with the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China in the North and India in the East, South and West respectively. The division of Nepal is like any other country. The country is divided into 14 zones or anchal; Bagmati, Bheri, Dhawalagiri, Gandaki, Janakpur, Karnali, Kosi, Lumbini, Mahakali, Mechi, Narayani, Rapti, Sagarmatha and Seti. The population of the country is mainly divided into two distinct groups the Indo Aryans and the Mangoloids. Kathmandu Valley is the spiritual and cultural meeting point of all these groups. Nepal is the only Hindu Kingdom in the world.
