Neora Valley

 Neora Valley Sanctuary is has one of the finest reserve forest. This valley stretches from Kalimpong the subdivision of Darjeeling in India to Bhutan in the north and Dooars in the south. This valley has an entry point from Lava in Kalimpong sub division and is a natural heritage forests with dense bamboo groves. Red panda and a few rare species of birds can be spotted here. The forest is diversified with dense colorful canopy, orchids, pine and many other trees.

This lush green valley is seen to be believed and is worth visiting. A trek of two to three nights is one of the adventures with the other adventure being bird watching. The periphery at Lava, Lolaygaon, Pedong, Parren and Bindu are all worth visiting. The forest has a wide range of avian – fauna and one can spot migratory birds in winters also. Some of the birds like Pheasants, Mynas, Flycatchers, Parakeets, Partridges, Orioles, Owls, Cuckoos, Minivets, Swifts and Woodpeckers can be spotted quite often. Other interesting wildlife that can be spotted are Himalayan Black Bear, Common Leopard, barking Deer, Gural, Deer, Lesser Cats, Himalayan Thar, Serrow, Indian Gaur and Squirrels is worth spotting. Red Panda though shy can be spotted here by the lucky ones.
